Dallas Perkins
(WWW.DALLASPERKINS.COM)
Rather than overload the first page with to much information,Dallas Perkins' website includes a bunch of links to the important sections of his site, including a bio, pics, news and press clippings. This leaves the opening of his site free to focus on moving his CD, Emergent Behavior.
And it his here that his website shines. Rather than try to sell CDs himself, Perkins provides links to all the sites that carry the album, including CDBaby.com and CDnow.com. By farming out the sales of his record to other companies, Perkins illustrates the best way to make a musicians music more accessible: CDBaby and CDNow both accept credit card transactions, the preferred payment method on the 'net. This is a surefire way of maximizing sales without bringing out to many hassles.
Perkins offers a number of MP3s for download, always a great way to attract people to the website. And once they're there, it's easy to let these fans know where the next gig is, which brings more people to the show, which creates more potential customers who go to the site, buy the CD and learn about the next show. It's a wonderful little circle that theoretically at least , can help an artist fanbase grow.
